Lorenzo Dominicus

Advanced character profile :

Lorenzo Dominicus

Full name: Lorenzo Dominicus

Known as: Lorenzo Dominicus

Rank: Advocate

Recruitment day: 2001-03-01

Appearance: Father Dominicus is a visibly ageing man; his hair has lost most of its colour and his face is thoroughly wrinkled. The dark tone of his skin reveals he is not from Yew, but from a far more southern place. His eyebrows are thick and bushy and just as his hair they have lost their colour a long time ago. The advocate has a light built and his length is a little below average. Unlike most people, Dominicus has not had a life of hard labour, and thus he is not very muscled.Like all other members of the Magistrate, Dominicus is always clad in a lusterless black robe. His equally black hat is pulled far over his head to conceal his facial expression. Even his eyes are mostly hidden behind it, which makes it hard to follow his gaze. In his hand you can find a leather bound copy of the Holy Scriptures, heavily worn both by age and extensive use. Although he has most of the sacred writings memorized he still prefers to read them out loud from the tome, to increase the impact of his words. Most of the time he speaks slowly to make his words carry even more weight.

Work-description: As a member of the Magistrate he has great responsibilities; he has to seek out and punish those who sin, be it by word, by deed or by thought. He also sends guards on errands in the name of the Lord and he accompanies the guardsmen to places of great evil. Occasionally he enlightens the guards with quotes or fragments from the Holy Scriptures to strengthen their faith. The rest of his time he spends praying and learning the words of the Lord by heart.

Personality: He is a deeply religious man who is convinced his interpretation of the Holy Scriptures is the only true reflection of the Lord's will. As such, he is always trying to strengthen the faith of all others. He respects the deep faith of his peers but he has learned that his uncompromising nature may bring him into conflict with those he depends upon. Therefore he mostly goes his own way in the service of the Lord.

Background: Dominicus spent his earlier years in a monastery where he showed great promise on account of his analytical mind and burning zeal. Although the contemplative life in the abbey agreed with him he decided he would be of better service to the Lord by converting the masses to the Avatarian faith; he became a priest. He swiftly progressed through the ranks of the Church, persuading many of his vision of a strong church. However, as the years passed he realized how the church adapted to the political realities of the court. Dominicus was unable to compromise his personal ideals and tried to show his superiours the errors of their ways. His zeal brought him to his influential position in the church, and now it was his downfall; his masters felt he had become a liability. Having lost all prospects of advancement he left for a village in the north of Britannia; a place where the Church was given proper respect and a humble servant of the Lord could still make a difference through Zeal and hard work.

Alignment: Lawful Evil - Although, he considers himself lawful good.

Reputation: Dominicus is avoided by most locals because of the way he talks and acts. The mere presence of the Magistrate makes many commoners uncomfortable. After all, the The black gown of the Magistrate is associated with trouble.

Motivations/goals: Father Dominicus aspires to convert all those who are not unswerving in their Faith; those who cannot be redeemed cannot be allowed to live. He is convinced that infidels are hiding even within the ranks of the militia. Cleansing the garrison is the first step in his mission to spread the true faith. He is aware the servants of the Guardian could be everywhere and may thwart even the faithful in their endeavours. Hence it is of the utmost importance to ensure that all positions of trust are held by those who are beyond all temptation. His past experiences have taught him he can only truly trust himself. Thus, drawing as much power to himself as possible is just his way of ensuring the Light prevails.

Quote: " Behold infidel! By this torch thy soul shall be cleansed from the Guardian's corruption!
The Light illuminates the way of the faithful, yet it burns the eyes of the unworthy!
Have no fear guardsman, for the Lord watches over the faithful."
