The Corsairs

The Corsairs are the naval division of the Guardsmen Militia — masters of the sea and protectors of Britannia's waterways. Where the Besiegers dominate on land and the Waywatchers patrol the forests, the Corsairs command the waves.

The Corsairs worship Hydros the Lurker, the Titan of Water, though this devotion is kept hidden from the Templars just as the Besiegers conceal their reverence of Pyros. They hold sea funerals for their fallen, believing that the spirits of drowned Corsairs ride with dolphins and sea serpents in the afterlife.

Rank Structure

The Corsairs maintained an elaborate rank ladder reflecting their maritime specialisation:

  • Rookie Corsair → First Corsair → Corsair → Veteran Corsair
  • Corsair Craftsman, Corsair Tinker, Corsair Explorer (specialist ranks)
  • Corsair Mistress / Corsair Master (senior ranks)
  • Corsair Corporal (division leader)

Ship Commands

The Corsairs developed their own nautical vocabulary for operations at sea, including terms like "Doracron" and "Sueacron" for navigating the serpent pillars, and "sea gas" as the in-character term for lag on the open waters.

Known Corsairs

Notable members included Kevin Sinclair (Corsair Corporal), Lyria (Corsair Mistress, who originally designed the division), Markus Avery, Michael Tearheart, Ethander and Aluwan Yemai (all Corsair Masters), and Lex Darion himself who served as First Corsair after his time as Merry Man Master.
